I can't get rid of my heavy eye makeup! Any ideas?

I've tried going the ';natural'; way, but always find myself going back to the dark and dramatic look. A thin line of eye liner on the top lid, followed by lots of dark gray eye shadow and a little on the bottom. Topped with black mascara. It just brings out my eyes better than the dumb ';natural'; look.I can't get rid of my heavy eye makeup! Any ideas?
Throw out you ';Heavy eye Makeup';I can't get rid of my heavy eye makeup! Any ideas?
I believe I'm the exact same, I too wear quite a bit of eye make up (eyeliner and alike), and I've decided to tone it down a little too. What I've done is just gradually changed the colours and applicators i'm using. Previously, it was black all the way, the darker the better and thats how I liked it.

Now instead of blacks and soft blacks, i've changed to soft browns and stone greys instead of the pure crushed blacks excessively. Using a brush rather than applicators you get with the eyeshadows, sweep a little of the brown onto the upper lid and into the crease. Underneath apply the stone greys and blend at the edges. Still apply the liquid liner at the top and on the base, and use a soft kohl liner on top of it to give it a softer effect but with the staying power of liquid. Take the tiniest amount of black eyeshadow onto the applicator that came with the eyeshadow or onto a q-tip/cotton bud and blend around the bottom lid where you've applied the lower liquid line. Take the larger eyeshadow brush again and do a complete sweep of the bottom lid with it. Apply black mascara and you should have the required results. A change from your usual makeup but something that still defines you.

My personal favourite eyeshadow colour palettes come from Boots No. 7 range (http://www.boots.com/brandtreatment/prod鈥?/a> , liquid liner from the Collection 2000 range, and Bourjois mascara. Its all relatively cheap and affordable and will last.
depending on your color of eyes change the way you wear it and also the color..(i.e) brown eyes stand out and say hey as they sport green eyeshadow. make sure that you highlite the top and bottom of the eye lid with a white or natural color first then in the crease of the eye put in your dark color of choice then on top of the dark color put a toner color somewhat the same as in the crease just a lighter tone...then apply your eyeliner or not your choice add a powder cover (regular cover powder will do whatever matches your skin tone)and apply your mascara. i choose sometimes to not wear mascara in the day to have that more natural look and only wear it out at night as it tends to show off the eyes more at night. That way you are not giving up your make up your just giving it a twist. However remember be comfortable in your own skin no matter what or how you decide to wear your make up.
You can try dark browns instead of black/gray. Use dark brown eyeliner, dark brown eyeshadow (for your crease) and a cream or light brown color (for your lids), followed by dark brown mascara. It can still look a little dramatic if you want it to, but the browns tend to look more natural and more subtle.
Try to change small parts instead of all of it at once.

For example, keep the liner and mascara but use a light champagne shimmer shadow with it.

Or use deep plum color shadow but use grey liner.

Here's a tip. Brown liner, softens your eyes but still has the same effect of black.
for my make up remover instead of buying actual '; eye make up remover'; at the store. I use baby oil, all i do is put a small amount of babyoil on a cottonball and use it where you have make up. it takes it all off and just wash your face after wards to remove the excess oil.
Try dark brown Mascara (try L'Oreal panoramic lash, it works wonders), and a bronze/brown eyeshadow on the top lids and a bit lining the bottom. I prefer a shimmery cream shadow when it is a metallic (again, L'Oreal makes a really good one!). This will still be a bit of a dramatic look, but not so dark and goth-ish.
Try alternate colours for the same effect without looking ';boring';. For example, a deep plum instead of a dark gray can still give you the smokey eye look without looking too overpowering.

...and try a soft black mascara instead of jet black.
I'm like you, I apply over amounts of eyeliner and mascara to make my eyes look ';smoky';

A good way to keep your smoky look without caking it on is to outline your eyes (on the line and outside) with eyeliner, a thinish line.

Take your dark gray eyeshadow and with a q-tip apply it very close to your eyeliner, not a lot at all, just a line.

When you apply it to the top of your eye, smear it up. Make it thicker, but not too much.

Or if you're willing to spend some cash...go to a MAC Cosmetic counter and purchase their eyeshadow stick in gray and their sparkly gray eyeshadow and do the same steps as above.

(thats what I do, hope it helped)

Try 1 of the many Clinique makeup removers... check the link!
I think it's perfectly fine if you like dark and dramatic makeup, I'm with ya on that one. I can't leave the house without dark eyemakeup on! You could try a nice natural and soft eyeshadow and overall makeup look and then add some false eyelashes. It will still look natural but the false lashes will totally make your eyes pop and it will look gorgeous, trust me. I've tried it before and I loved it (once again, coming from someone who is obsessed with dark makeup)! If you don't like the idea of that you could gradually go the 'natural' way. Instead of dark grey eyeshadow, use light/soft gray eyeshadow. Hope this has helped..!
ok well i suggest a light eyeshadow maybe not grey and no eyeliner. and mascara but only on ur top lashes
Actually, it sounds like it's hiding your eyes, not bringing them out. Too much dark makeup, top and bottom, can actually make your eyes look smaller. Start making small changes. Gradually you'll get used to the more natural look. Maybe just go with a lighter eyeshadow for now. I used to wear LOTS of eye makeup, but now I wear very little and get way more compliments on my eyes.
lol! if u think natural is dumb, no way areu going to be able to change!

if i were u, just play around. once u get used to going with different looks, u won't think one is dumb vs another.

why don't u try a White eyeliner on lower lash line instead of dark colors. also, try some more pastel color eyeshadows, but apply the same way (light across whole lid and brow bone, then darker shade to emphasis crease). i also do thin black eyeliner on top lashes w/ whatever color i wear. then mascara on top lashes only.

good luck!
Get a good brand of makeup remover, depending on the mascara you use, water based or permanent which uses oil.

It is really important to clean thoroughly because dark eyeshadow pigments tend to work themselves into the delicate skin of your eyelid, so after a while your eyelid will look darker even though you have no makeup on. Use soft movements and do not stretch or pull the delicate skin of your eyes. Rubbing hard is also not recommended. I prefer to use a soft foam wash formulated for eyes, for some reason my skin responds better to water than it does to oils. You need to try some before settling on the right one for you.

Some of my friends use sweet almond oil or olive oil and that works for them.

Also, never ever ever, no matter how tired you are, go to sleep with makeup on. Keeping your skin clean goes a long way.
just be natural or go lighter on your make-up or you could get permanent make-up in a lighter degree instead of heavy
use an eye-make up remover which has both oil and water base like avon's perfect wear eye-makeup remover. it removes evrything even if its water-proof
Definitely try the eye makeup remover from neutrogena or lancome.

IT'S AMAZING!

It is easy to use and it even gets rid of waterproof eye makeup.
